About as long as it takes to get to Scotland (from major West Coast airports such as SFO and LAX), give or take an hour or two.
Major hubs in Vietnam and Thailand (e.g. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok) are 14 hours ahead of Pacific time. So when it’s morning here, it’s evening there — and vice versa.
Delta, United, American and Cathay Pacific fly to Vietnam — the destination Asia Golf Trips runs the majority of its trips to. But only Vietnam Airlines (VN) flies direct. It’s about 16 hours going (from SFO) to Vietnam on VNA, and about 14 hours coming back. VNA is also a member of SkyTeam, an alliance that includes Delta. See what's eligible for accrual.
Roundtrip fares from any number of West Coast cities to Vietnam are typically on the order of $1,500 for Economy class and $5,500 for Business class.
Our prices vary because our clients' desires and preferences vary. Looking for a carefully curated experience with personal touches, just for you and your friends? Let's talk. Content to join one of our six annually scheduled trips, which are limited to the first eight adults to sign up? That's an option, too. But either way, you will be treated to a journey unlike any other, led by a true insider: Asia Golf Trips founder Scott Resch, whose knowledge of Vietnam and Portugal — our featured destinations — is second-to-none.
Our trips max out at eight travelers (adults only). That said, if you've got a small group willing to pay the equivalent of eight travelers for a truly bespoke experience, we'd be happy to set up such a trip — as long as it doesn't overlap with one that's already scheduled.
Definitely. Instead of golf, we will set that traveler up other activities of comparable price, such as spa treatments, culinary experiences, cycling tours, yoga classes, river cruises, sightseeing excursions, etc. Tell us what interests you and let us do the rest!
January through April for Vietnam, and spring or fall for Portugal. That’s when the weather is most ideal for golf in both destinations. That said, both countries are year-round golf destinations — but summer temps (and rain in Vietnam in the fall) can be an issue.
We're running three trips to Vietnam in Winter 2026 (January, March & April), one to Portugal in Spring (May) and two more to Portugal in Fall (October) — all of which are sold out. If you'd like to get in on a 2027 trip, check out our schedule and let us know which one interests you. We're also open to arranging custom trips, as long as there's no overlap with scheduled trips.
Very. In fact, its crime index (46) is lower than the U.S. (47) and France (51). The Vietnamese are extremely friendly. Most speak English. The country's political system is stable. Its medical services are first-world. And while Vietnam is home to various reptiles and insects, it's highly unlikely you'll see — let alone encounter — anything dangerous.
Some of Vietnam's top tourist attractions — such as Reunification Palace in Saigon, the Imperial City in Hue, the ancient town of Hoi An (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the Old Quarter in Hanoi — as well as restaurants that serve up the finest Vietnamese cuisine. There are also vestiges of war — such as French pillboxes — at some of the courses.
We started with Vietnam in 2024, added Portugal in 2025, and will offer another great golf destination starting in 2028. Stay tuned for the reveal!
You can. But you might want to consider renting clubs — every Asia Golf Trips partner course offers the latest and greatest sets from Titleist, TaylorMade, Mizuno, etc.— or, if going to Portugal, employing the services of our luggage shipping partner, ShipSticks. It's so much easier to travel without clubs.
